Crono leaned into the harsh cold wind, determined to reach the summit. He had scaled this path before, but there was no company by his side as he climbed this time around. Memories of friends were painful, and they seemed unavoidable when returning to nostalgic locations. Crono snickered at the thought. Mt. Woe had somehow become nostalgic.
Almost at the top. Something caught Crono's eye. A tall figure loomed above him on a ledge. It was a man he knew from another timeline, but had followed a different path in this one. The other man was a fiend and a murderer, but also an ally. That man was Magus. This man was called Gil, and Crono only knew about him through rumors. But it was hard to ignore the rumors. The whispers that permeated through taverns and inns about Gil, the man that knew no allegiance. He who slaughtered humans, Mystics, and Reptites equally. Whose magic was so insurmountable that all the kings and kingdoms feared his movements. A sly grin flashed across Gil's face.
Crono held much respect for his old acquaintance from his home... but the man before him was something separate altogether. He was an obstacle, one that Crono didn't have time to deal with.
